Prices go up as race day gets closer. Registration closes on April 16, 2017 (except for the Youth Run, which stays open until April 19).

08/31/16 $25
10/31/16 $30
01/15/17 $35
02/28/17 $40
04/16/17 $45
Expo  (if spots available) $50

All participants must pick up their packets (race number, goody bag, and race shirt) no later than Friday, April 21, at 7 pm during the Health & Fitness Expo at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC). The expo is open Thursday, April 20, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, April 21, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Contact the race hotline (217-722-5025) if your travel plans prevent you from picking up your race packet (race number, goody bag, and race shirt).

New for 2017: We are using cutting-edge, dynamic bib assigning this year, which will speed up our race number pickup process quite a bit. On Tuesday, April 18, we will email each entrant a unique QR code—instead of a specific race number, as in the past. Print and bring to the expo a copy of your QR code (or show it to us on your phone) to be assigned and receive your race number. If you plan to pick up a race number for someone else, you must have a copy of that person’s QR code (paper copy or on your phone).

The address of the ARC is 201 E. Peabody, Champaign, IL. (See Google’s map.) For parking, see our parking map.

If you can’t get to the expo, you can have someone else pick up your number for you as long as that person has a copy (paper or electronic) of the QR code we emailed you.

5K entrants will receive a unisex technical shirt color TBD and a drawstring bacpack. Finishers get a great medal, finish line food and drink, and one beverage at the 27th Mile Celebrate Victory Bash on Saturday. (Entrants must display their race bib to receive the beverage.)

Unisex technical shirts come in adult sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL and youth sizes S, M, and L. The 5K shirt color is sport royal. See shirt sizing chart here.

Wave Start

To lessen overcrowding on the 5K course, in 2017 we will continue to use a wave start. When entrants register for the 5K, they will pick one of the estimated finish times below:

  • 25:00 & faster
  • 25:01 to 31:00
  • 31:01 to 37:00
  • 37:01 to 43:00
  • 43:01 & slower
  • Just here to have fun
  • Walkers (of any pace) + all strollers

Your corral letter will be printed on your bib number. Strollers are allowed in the 5K only, but you must be walking. Strollers must start in the stroller wave.

The fastest runners are assigned to the first wave and occupy the first start corral. After these runners have cleared the start line, the next corral moves up to the starting line. After a predetermined interval, the second wave starts and so on.

Three-deep awards are presented in the following age-groups:

10 & under 11-12 13-14 15-19
20-24 25-29 30-34 35-39
40-44 45-49 50-54 55-59
60-64 65-69 70-74 75-79

The top three male and top three female runners will receive overall awards. These runners are not eligible for age group awards.

In addition to the overall awards, there will be first-, second-, and third-place awards for each of the age groups listed above. Age group awards are based on chip time.
