Marathon | Half Marathon | Marathon Relay | 10K | 5K | Youth Run | Volunteer

The Marathon Relay? Yep….the marathon can be a team sport! Gather three of your friends, co-workers, etc. and take a chance on 26.2 miles divided by 4! A ton of fun, this is a great bonding experience with the potential for some good bragging rights!

We are using a wave start. Relay teams should be in the wave that corresponds to their expected total finishing time.

The course will be closed to traffic for participants who are averaging faster than 16 minutes per mile. Slower participants may continue after traffic is allowed onto the race course, but they do so at their own risk and must follow pedestrian statutes. Race volunteers, the finish line, and post-race festivities will remain active long enough to accommodate runners taking up to 7 hours.

Read the Relay Info Sheet before race day.

The relay covers the same course as the full marathon. It starts near State Farm Center, runs through campus, loops through Urbana, back through campus, out into Champaign, and finishes on the 50-yard line of Memorial Stadium.

Prices go up as race day gets closer. Registration closes on April 16, 2017 (except for the Youth Run, which stays open until April 19).

08/31/16 $120
10/31/16 $140
01/15/17 $160
02/28/17 $180
04/16/17 $200
Expo  (if spots available) $220

All participants must pick up their packets (race number, goody bag, and race shirt) no later than Friday, April 21, at 7 pm during the Health & Fitness Expo at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC). The expo is open Thursday, April 20, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, April 21, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Contact the race hotline (217-722-5025) if your travel plans prevent you from picking up your race packet (race number, goody bag, and race shirt).

New for 2017: We are using cutting-edge, dynamic bib assigning this year, which will speed up our race number pickup process quite a bit. On Tuesday, April 18, we will email each entrant a unique QR code—instead of a specific race number, as in the past. Print and bring to the expo a copy of your QR code (or show it to us on your phone) to be assigned and receive your race number. If you plan to pick up a race number for someone else, you must have a copy of that person’s QR code (paper copy or on your phone).

The address of the ARC is 201 E. Peabody, Champaign, IL. (See Google’s map.) For parking, see our parking map.

If you can’t get to the expo, you can have someone else pick up your number for you as long as that person has a copy (paper or electronic) of the QR code we emailed you.

One person from each team should pick up the packet for the whole team.

Relay entrants will receive a unisex technical shirt color TBD and a drawstring backpack. Finishers get a great medal, finish line food and drink, and one beverage at the 27th-Mile Celebrate Victory Bash on Saturday. (Entrants must display their race bib to receive the beverage.)

Unisex technical shirts come in adult sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL and youth sizes S, M, and L. The Relay shirts color is sport orange. Shirt sizing chart
