All participants must pick up their packets (race number, goody bag, and race shirt) no later than Friday, April 30, 2021, at 7 pm during the Health & Fitness Expo at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC). The expo is open Thursday, April 29, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, April 30, 2021, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Contact the race hotline (217-372-1444) if your travel plans prevent you from picking up your race packet (race number, goody bag, and race shirt).

Dynamic bib assigning: We are using cutting-edge, dynamic bib assigning, which speeds up our race number pickup process quite a bit. On Tuesday, April 27, we will email each entrant a unique QR code. Print and bring to the expo a copy of your QR code (or show it to us on your phone) to be assigned and receive your race number. If you plan to pick up a race number for someone else, you must have a copy of that person’s QR code (paper copy or on your phone).

The address of the ARC is 201 E. Peabody, Champaign, IL. (See Google’s map.) For parking, see our parking map.

If you can’t get to the expo, you can have someone else pick up your number for you as long as that person has a copy (paper or electronic) of the QR code we emailed you.

Back for 2021: We are offering LATE packet pick-up at Body n’ Sole Sports, 1317 N Dunlap Ave (Rt 45), Savoy, IL from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021, for those entrants who cannot get to the expo before it closes at 7:00 p.m. You will be able to pick up your race number(s) and goody bag(s) but not your race shirt(s). We would be happy to mail your race shirt(s) to you after race weekend, however. Please bring a check or money order for $5.00 (made payable to C-U Marathon, LLC) to late packet pick-up to cover the cost of postage.

5K entrants will receive a Bella + Canvas-brand short-sleeve unisex jersey tee and a drawstring backpack. Finishers get a great medal, food and drink after the race, and one beverage at the 4th Mile on Friday. (Entrants must display their race bib to receive the beverage.)

Bella + Canvas-brand short-sleeve unisex jersey tee, made of airlume combed and ringspun cotton/polyester. The 5K will feel oh so soft!! Note: the 2021 5K will run smaller than the ALO brand shirts we had in 2019. Select your shirt size with this fact in mind. The shirt comes in adult sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL and XXXL and youth sizes S, M, and L. The 5K shirt color is TBD. See shirt sizing chart here.

Note: 5K entrants who deferred from our cancelled 2020 race weekend to 2021 will receive a one-of-a-kind shirt that features the 2020 shirt design on the front and a unique 2021 design on the back. The 5K shirt color for these entrants is heather orange.

Wave Start

To lessen overcrowding on the 5K course, we use a wave start. When entrants register for the 5K, they will pick one of the estimated finish times below:

  • A: 25:00 & faster
  • B: 25:01 to 31:00
  • C: 31:01 to 37:00
  • D: 37:01 to 43:00
  • E: 43:01 & slower
  • F: Girls on the Run
  • G: Just here to have fun
  • H: Walkers (of any pace) + ALL STROLLERS

Your corral letter will be printed on your bib number. Strollers are allowed in the 5K only. If you have a stroller, you must be walking and start in the walker corral.

The fastest runners are assigned to the first wave and occupy the first start corral. After these runners have cleared the start line, the next corral moves up to the starting line. After a predetermined interval, the second wave starts and so on.

Three-deep awards are presented in the following age-groups:

10 & under 11-12 13-14 15-19
