The Youth Run will be run entirely inside Memorial Stadium. The route is roughly 1K in length (slightly longer than half a mile). Each heat will start separately at the south end of the football field, make several loops north and south on the field, and then finish at the 50-yard-line.

For every youth run entry, you’ll receive a parent/guardian race bib, at NO charge, so a parent or guardian who can run with the youngster.

Rain date: Sunday, May 6 at 3:00 p.m.

The Youth Run is for children 10 and under. Children older than 10 should participate in the 5K.

Youth Run Instructions

ENTRY FEE

The entry fee is $15.
Online registration for the youth run closes at midnight on Sunday, April 22. Additional registrations will be available at the expo on April 26-27, and on race day, April 28, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the Great East Hall of Memorial Stadium.

REGISTER

REGISTRATION AND PACKET PICKUP

Participants and their parents can register and pick up youth run
race packets and instructions on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday:

  • Thursday, April 26 during the Health & Fitness Expo at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday, April 27 during the Health & Fitness Expo at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 28, at Memorial Stadium (Great East Hall) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

(Race packets for all other events can only be picked up on Thursday
and Friday at the Health & Fitness Expo.)

Youth Run Instructions

BUSEY YOUTH RUN FUNZONE

Celebrate youth fitness with the Busey Youth Run Funzone! Let local children’s vendors keep your little racer entertained as they wait their turn to take the field. Located in the Great East Hall, festivities will begin at 1 p.m. and run through 3 p.m. on race day, April 28. Festivities will close prior to the singing of the National Anthem.

GOODIES

Youth run entrants all get an awesome 100% cotton pre-shrunk T-shirt, a drawstring backpack, and a finisher’s medal.

Postrace food, served in the Great West Hall, includes Wisconsin Mac from Noodles & Company, delicious cookies from Einstein Bros. Bagels, chocolate milk from Prairie Farms, and other goodies.

To guarantee a shirt, you must register by April 18. Youth shirt sizes
run as follows: Youth XS (2-4), Youth S (6-8), Youth M (10-12), Youth L
(14-16), Youth XL (18-20).

We will offer a Virtual Goody Bag program in 2018. Check back in late August for more details.

AGE GROUPS

Children will run in separate races or heats, according to age. There
is also a sibling heat. The Youth Run is for children 10 and under. Children older than 10 should participate in the
5K. Parents can run with their children. All entrants (and any
accompanying parent) should be able to cover the distance (a little
over half a mile) on their own two feet.

The CU Schools Foundation is a Charitable Partner of the Christie
Clinic Illinois Marathon. A portion of every Busey Illinois Youth Run
entry will be donated to CU Schools Foundation.
