To make this year’s race weekend a success, we will require nearly 3,000 volunteers. Volunteers are needed for both non-course positions and course positions.
Volunteer registration
Thank you for your interest in signing up to volunteer for the 2025 Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend. Click the link below to sign up for a volunteer position. You may sign up for more than one position (non-overlapping). If you are successful in signing up, you will receive a confirmation email. Check your junk/spam folders for the email first and if not received, send an email to Kim Scott (kimscott.IllinoisMarathon@gmail.com). Feel free to contact Kim with questions or assistance in signing up to volunteer. You can also send any questions to volunteer@illinoismarathon.com
Please send any questions to volunteer@illinoismarathon.com.
How to register
Get started by choosing a category and filling out the corresponding form. You may notice at some links that there are no jobs available or require a password. These jobs have been secured by outside groups or major sponsors. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities, please click on another volunteer opportunity. You may sign up for more than one position, as long as the times do not conflict.
Requirements
All Course Intersection volunteers must be at least 18 years old, because they are responsible for knowing and applying the Rules of the Road and have the maturity and ability to handle and direct others. If under the age of 18, they must be accompanied by an adult. For all other jobs, volunteers should be at least 16 years old and capable of fulfilling the volunteer description independently. All volunteers under 18 must have a parent/guardian complete the registration waiver.
You may bring your child with you to your shift, as long as you are able to maintain responsibility over their safety while performing your assignment.
Deadlines
We aim to fill all spots by April 10. However, as long as volunteer jobs are available, we will keep registration open.
Volunteering as a group
If you are a group of 10 or more, complete the group application and a coordinator will contact you. If you have a smaller group, identify an opening from our volunteer listing, and each individual should register. We encourage groups to fill our most crucial volunteer slots–the Course Intersection Team. Please consider signing up in an area along the course.
The water stops (hydration stations) are reserved for groups of 10 or more, and all hydration stations for this year are filled. If you are interested in providing a group of 10 volunteers or more for next year’s hydration station, email hydration@illinoismarathon.com.
Volunteer benefits
Each team member receives a Christie Clinic Illinois Race Weekend TEAM t-shirt and drawstring backpack!

We are grateful to CBPB Popcorn Shop (1506 S. Neil St, Champaign) and Sooie Bros. Bar-B-Que Joint (103 W Kirby Ave., Champaign) for sponsoring our official volunteer drawstring backpacks this year. As a bonus to all volunteers, once you receive your volunteer bag, bring it with you to their shops and receive a 10% discount on your order every time you visit, from race weekend through the rest of the year!
And here’s another Bonus for 2025! If you volunteer during Race Weekend AND participate (run or walk) in any of our events, you are a Double Dipper and qualify to receive a free double dip of custard every month for a year from any of the three Culver’s located in Champaign-Urbana. The Double Dipper program starts in May of 2025 and runs through the end of April of 2026.

What to expect after registering
You should receive a confirmation email. If you don’t see a confirmation in your inbox, check your spam filter. The email will be sent from volunteercoordinator@volunteerlocal.com.
If you still did not receive the confirmation email, please email volunteer@illinoismarathon.com with your first name, last name, and volunteer job. It is likely there is a typo in your email address, and we need to fix it so you can receive training instructions and volunteer details.
You can check the details of your assignment by visiting the self check page. There you will enter your email address and first name, prompting the details to be emailed to you.
Canceling your volunteer assignment
Visit the self check page and submit your name and email address. You will receive an email with a link to access your profile. Click the link and then look to the far right across from the name of your job and you will see the option to cancel your shift.
What to expect on race day
Please plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your volunteer shift. This will allow adequate time to park and walk to the location of your assignment.
Course Intersection volunteers will receive parking instructions on their instruction sheets provided in the confirmation email after you have signed up for your course intersection position. Volunteers at the Expo and the Stadium should reference the parking page.
Getting service hours verified
If you have a sheet/form that needs to be signed to verify your volunteer duties were met, please ask your volunteer coordinator to sign the form at the completion of your volunteer shift.
