HOW TEAMS WORK
A Perimeter Challenge team can have up to 10 members for any of the Run/Walk distances—full perimeter (1268 miles), half perimeter (634 miles), or quarter perimeter (317 miles). For the Bike option, the team option is available for the full perimeter (1268 miles) only (up to 10 members).
The TEAM captain registers him/herself first and pays for the number of members that will be on the team, and creates a password for the team. The individual team members then register themselves, using the team name and password to complete their registration. No additional money is collected. The TEAM captain posts the runs/walks or bike rides on the virtual challenge results platform, but every team member has access to the results so they can see how the team is doing.
DO I TRAVEL TO THE ROUTE TO COMPLETE MY DISTANCE?
Nope. You do all your running/walking or biking WHEREVER you live, then those outings are posted on the virtual challenge results platform (by you if you’re a SOLO entrant or by your captain if you’re on a team). You can see your progress along the route (the route is like a board game, and you/your team like a game “piece” that moves along the route as you complete and post all your activities).
WEBINARS
To enhance your experience in the Pace & Pedal Perimeter Challenge, we will offer several webinars featuring guests who are leaders in sustainability within the running industry as well as the state of Illinois. The webinars are sponsored by Human Kinetics and hosted by race director Jan Seeley. We’ll post a link to each recording (available on the Illinois Marathon YouTube channel) after each webinar.
Webinar #1: May 12. If Our Race Swag Coult Talk, What Would It Tell Us?
Special guests: Bill Johnston, co-founder and president of Recover Brands; Brian Goodell, co-founder of BibBoards; and Craig McSaveney, co-founder and inventor of the HydraPouch and UltraSpout. Learn how these running industry leaders created mission-driven apparel and products that help us lead more environmentally-friendly and socially responsible lives. The swag for the Perimeter Challenge comes from these companies.
RACE SWAG
The Perimeter Challenge is a 100% eco-friendly event, so all the race swag is sustainable. We are partnering with Recoverbrands.com for the race shirts; you’ll also receive a HydraPouch, and a pair of BibBoards . You’ll have the choice of receiving a Keychain Medal or having us DONATE the cost of your medal to Prairie Rivers Network, whose mission is to “protect water, heal land, and inspire change.”
The first round of swag will be available for pick up at Body n’ Sole Sports in Savoy (or we will shipped it to you) sometime in July or August. After the first round of swag distribution, additional swag will be available for pick up and shipment every two months until the end of the challenge.
